Regulatory and fiscal policy measures in Asia during the Coronavirus pandemic

We have been compiling reports on current developments in ports, ship building and shipping in Asia since April 2020.
14 July 2020

Our research focuses on regulatory and fiscal policy measures in Asia relevant to the maritime sector. Our intention is to learn from experiences made in Asia and identify potentially emerging distortions of competition in the maritime sector.

In the two reports we have published thus far, we document the current situation and the developments in the maritime sector in the People’s Republic of China including Hong Kong (Special Administrative Region), in the Republic of China (Taiwan), in Singapore, in the Republic of Korea (South Korea) and in Japan.

The main focus of the research is on measures implemented by governments to support the maritime sector during the coronavirus pandemic, and on measures being prepared to enable resumption of normal business activities.

These reports (available in German only) can be accessed here.

The authors of the reports will be happy to answer any questions you might have.
